SMILE GUIDE TOUCH FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS THE SMILE GUIDE TOUCH?

Smile Guides have been helping dentists figure out what a patient wants to see in their new smile for decades.  Smile Guide Touch animates the traditional Smile Guide taking it to a new level.  It is available as an app for iPad and Android tablets. You and your patient can view different designs by changing the shapes of the incisal 1/3 of the 6 anterior teeth, with the touch of a button. You can change any of the incisal embrasures from curved to round to square (or pointed for the cuspids). You can also see and change the smile line character (relative lengths of the 6 anterior teeth) by observing and controlling the relative lengths of the lateral incisors.  Changes only one feature at a time and watch the selection morph in front of your eyes.  See how small changes can make a huge change in the perception of the smile.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SMILE GUIDE TOUCH AND THE SMILE GUIDE TOUCH PRO?

The Smile Guide Touch is the basic version of our flagship product the Smile Guide Touch Pro.  The basic version includes the Touch Designer which allows you and your patient to interactively design a new smile by touching a few buttons on the tablet’s screen (the basic version is available for iPad only).  The Pro version adds professional features with the inclusion of the Smile Design Rx.  The Rx can be saved, email, and printed (iPad only) allowing data to be retrieve, given to your patient or sent to your lab.  The Pro version is available for both iPad and Android Tablets.

WHY CAN’T I FIND THE APP BY SEARCHING THE APP STORE?

The Smile Guide Touch was designed to run on the Apple iPad or Android devices and does not work on the iPhone. If you are searching the iTunes App Store from an iPhone, Apple will not display the app. You must search for it from either your desktop iTunes account or directly from your iPad using the App Store icon.  To find the Android version, search from your Android device from the Google Play store.

CAN YOU PUT THE SMILE IN MY PATIENT’S FACE?

The Smile Guide Touch is just that, a smile guide.  Its benefits over the old style smile guide books is that it provides live interaction with your patient.  Your patient will not have to turn through page after page of similar designs which often just serves to confuse. The smiles change before your patient’s eyes, with the touch of a button.

If you are interested in placing new smiles into your patients portraits look for our new Digital Dentist for Tablets product. This is a detailed instructional manual designed to teach you how to use Photoshop Touch for cosmetic simulations with tablets (iPad and Android devices) and includes a digital smile library.

WILL THE SMILE GUIDE TOUCH WORK WITH MY iPad 1?

Yes, the Smile Guide Touch will work with any of the currently available iPad (1-3). You just have to make sure you are running iOS 5.0 or greater. If your iOS is less, you can get a free upgrade from Apple through iTunes.

WILL THE SMILE GUIDE TOUCH WORK ON MY iPHONE?

Smile Guides demonstrate how subtle variations in the shape and length of the teeth completely change how the smile looks. We thought it best to take advantage of the large screen of the iPad before introducing it to other devices. Will it ever be available for iPhone? Maybe!

HOW DO I PURCHASE IT?

The Smile Guide Touch for iPad can only be purchased through the Apple App Store. Because it is not available for the iPhone it will not display in the App Store if you search for it from an iPhone. Or you can go to the Smile Guide Touch web site at www.smileguidetouch.com, and follow the link to the iTunes app store.

The Android version can be purchased through the Google Play Store.

HOW MANY SMILES ARE THERE?

There are 240 smile designs working behind the scenes in the app. You will never notice them because their appearances are controlled seamlessly by the touch of the buttons. These control buttons call up only the features you and your patients want to see.

WILL IT WORK ON MY ANDROID?

The Smile Guide Touch is now available for Android devices.  Go to the Google Play store to download.

WILL IT WORK ON PC OR MACS?

We developed the Smile Guide Touch as a mobile application to be carried to the patient no matter where he or she may be in the office. So there are no plans to make the program available for desktop computers.
